The Impact of Religious Orientation in Conjugal Bereavement among Older Adults.
Rosik, Christopher H.
International Journal of Aging and Human Development, v28 n4 p251-60 1989
Explored relationship between religious commitment and adaptation to widowhood among 159 widowed elderly involved in southern Californian support groups. Grief, depression, and intrinsic-extrinsic religiousness were assessed and then analyzed via hierarchical multiple regression procedures. Higher extrinsicness (religion as a means to self-determined end) and indiscriminate proreligiousness were correlated with higher distress levels. (Author/TE)
