Student Priorities for Academic Advising: Do They Want a Personal Relationship?
Fielstein, Lynda L.
NACADA Journal, v9 n1 p33-38 Spr 1989
A study found students prefer prescriptive to developmental advising, but like a combination of the two, with limits to the degree of personal involvement desired. Advisors attracted to the developmental mode are cautioned to consider carefully how much personal counseling to provide. Research on student characteristics and preferences is recommended. (MSE)
