The Acquisition of Agglutinating Languages: Converging Evidence from Tamil.
Raghavendra, Parimala; Leonard, Laurence B.
Journal of Child Language, v16 n2 p313-22 Jun 1989
Investigation of the acquisition of Tamil verb inflections in three two-year-old children revealed a high percentage of usage of verb inflections indicating tense, aspect, modality, person, number, and gender. Explanations for this early, almost error-free language acquisition are explored in terms of the facilitating properties of agglutinating languages. (Author/CB)
