Determinants of Unemployment Duration for Displaced Workers.

The authors used survival analysis to estimate a model of the determinants of unemployment duration. Variables included personal characteristics, local conditions, unemployment income, and duration. Data were collected from industrial workers who were laid off in 1983 in Milan. Results do not support the existence of negative time dependence. (Author/CH)
