Does Wanting to Become Pregnant with a First Child Affect Subsequent Maternal Behaviors and Infant Birth Weight?
Marsiglio, William; Mott, Frank L.
Journal of Marriage and the Family, v50 n4 p1023-36 Nov 1988
Used data from National Longitudinal Survey of Labor Market Experience of Youth to examine relationship between whether or not women wanted to become pregnant with first child, and their subsequent maternal behaviors and infant's birth weight. Being Black or younger was associated with below-average levels of pregnancy wantedness; living in urban area was positively associated with wantedness. (Author/NB)
