Cognitive Attributions of Depression in Children and Adolescents.
McCauley, Elizabeth; And Others
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, v56 n6 p903-08 Dec 1988
Examined whether cognitive attributes differentiate depressed children from those with other psychiatric disorders. Findings from 108 child and adolescent psychiatric patients revealed that depressed children endorsed significantly lower self-esteem, more hopelessness, more externalized locus of control, and more depressive attributional style than other patients. Findings suggest that depressive cognitive style can be documented in clinically depressed young people. (Author/NB)
