How Elementary Counselors See Their Role: An Empirical Study.

Investigated elementary school counselors' (N=130) perceptions of aspects of their ideal and actual daily work. The results revealed that three of the five highest ranked actual role items involved consultant functions, two involved individual counseling with students. Ideally, counselors reported they would like to help teachers help students. Ideal ratings typically exceeded actual ratings. (NB)
