Measuring Musical Responsiveness in Autistic Children: A Comparative Analysis of Improvised Musical Tone Sequences of Autistic, Normal, and Mentally Retarded Individuals.
Thaut, Michael H.
Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, v18 n4 p561-71 Dec 1988
The improvised tone sequences of five autistic children, six retarded children, and 11 nonhandicapped children were analyzed for rhythm, restriction, complexity, rule adherence, and originality. Scores of autistic children almost reached the scores of normal children and were significantly higher than those of the mentally retarded children. (Author/DB)
