Criteria for Employability: Are Home Economics Students' Perceptions and Employers' Expectations Different?

Compared employer's criteria for college graduate employees with criteria home economics college students think employers desire. Both groups agreed that motivation, verbal communication skills, work experience, cooperativeness, appearance, knowledge of company, and references were important. A gap was noted for five characteristics: initiative, leadership skills, assertiveness, ambition, and empathy. (Author/CH)
