An exploration of the "initiation" view of education suggests that the knowledge prescribed is predominantly theoretical, allowing little room for physical pursuits. It is argued that this account of knowledge is limiting and that activities such as sport or dance form a necessary part of a balanced education. (Author/CB) (Author/CB)
