The Nature and Use of Prediction Skills in a Biological Computer Simulation.
Lavoie, Derrick R.; Good, Ron
Journal of Research in Science Teaching, v25 n5 p335-60 May 1988
Describes mechanisms of thought associated with making predictions. Concludes that successful predictors had high initial knowledge of the subject matter and were formally operational. Unsuccessful predictors had low initial knowledge and were concretely operational. Systematic manipulation, note taking, and higher-level thinking skills were successful prediction behaviors. (RT)
