Discusses research that examined how five principals managed communications in their schools. Findings indicated that dyadic interpersonal contacts dominate principals' communications activities and serve to maintain messages about school organization. Principals prefer accomplishing communications through talk and include openness and high visibility in characterizing the success of their communications activities. (CJH)
