Victim and Crime Characteristics, Coping Responses, and Short- and Long-Term Recovery from Victimization.
Wirtz, Philip W.; Harrell, Adele V.
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, v55 n6 p866-71 Dec 1987
Contrasted the victims of five crime types on victim characteristics, crime characteristics, coping responses and psychological distress. Found significant sociodemographic and coping response differences. Changing telephone numbers and staying home more were associated with significantly higher levels of psychological distress. Victims of all crime types declined in six-month distress levels except those who changed telephone numbers. (Author/KS)
