ESP in Applied Linguistics: Refining Research Agenda Implications and Future Directions of Research on Second Language Reading.
Carrell, Patricia L.
English for Specific Purposes, v6 n3 p233-44 1987
Recent research has shown that effective second-language reading involves an interaction of the reader with the text. This interactive view has relevance for other areas of second-language processing, including listening comprehension, writing, and English for special purposes. Future research is needed in metacognition, relationships among schemata, and vocabulary acquisition. (Author/LMO)
