Early Occupational Restriction: An Examination of Elementary School Children's Expression of Vocational Preferences.
Miller, Mark J.; Stanford, Jeffrey T.
Journal of Employment Counseling, v24 n3 p115-21 Sep 1987
Studied sex differences in occupational preferences among Black elementary school children from a low socioeconomic class. Demonstrated that both boys and girls responded according to traditional sex role stereotypes, as is suggested by the current theory of vocational development. Boys mentioned more, and a wider range of, occupations, than did girls. (Author/KS)
