State Court Disparity on Employment At-Will.
Koys, Daniel J.; And Others
Personnel Psychology, v40 n3 p565-77 Fall 1987
Analyzed state appellate court decisions to identify judicial philosophies and to determine which states have accepted or rejected various exceptions to employment at-will. Showed that states varied considerably. Most commonly accepted arguments against employment at-will were violations of public policy, breaches of implied contracts in employee handbooks, and torts of outrageous emotional distress.
