Assessing the Impact of Expenditure on Achievement: Some Methodological and Policy Considerations.
Dolan, Robert C.; Schmidt, Robert M.
Economics of Education Review, v6 n3 p285-99 1987
Examines the relationship between student achievement and expenditures in Virginia public schools. Estimation techniques are noteworthy for considering socioeconomic effects via an "unobservable variables" technique, measuring school expenditures in constant dollars, and correcting for heteroscedascity. Expenditure effects on achievement seem greater at the elementary level. Includes three tables, 29 references, and two appendices. (MLH)
