Affiliation and Autonomy in the Transition to Parenthood.
Grossman, Frances K.; And Others
Family Relations, v36 n3 p263-69 Jul 1987
Examined autonomy and affiliation as potentially clinically significant characteristics for individuals adapting to parenthood. Data were obtained from longitudinal study of initially expectant couples who were seen at twoand five years after the birth of their first child. Found autonomy and affiliation assessed during expectancy to be strong predictors of later intrapsychic, marital, and parental adaptation. (Author/NB)
