Antecedents of Late Birthtiming Decisions of Men and Women in Dual-Career Marriages.
Soloway, N. Maxine; Smith, Rebecca M.
Family Relations, v36 n3 p258-62 Jul 1987
Interviewed 30 recent fathers and mothers to examine antecedent factors associated with late birthtiming decisions of men and women in dual-career marriages. Findings suggest that biological time clock precipitates reassessment of family injunctions about status of education, occupation, finances, and marriage, which, in turn, precipitates issues about sex-role identity/individuation before deciding to have a child.
