Examined the relative importance of socioenvironmental problems versus negative beliefs in explaining adolescent depression using a sample of high school students (N=423). Only one negative condition--low evaluation of self--was related to depression. Low parental support and employment problems were found to be predictors of depression and a negative view of self.
