Investigated impact of singlehood on career patterns of 663 professional women holding graduate degrees. Found that length of singlehood and timing of marriage, more than type of singlehood (never-married or divorced/separated), were related to career advancement. Integration of variables revealed complex effects of marital status on career achievements. (Author/NB)
