Systemic and Nonsystemic Diagnostic Processes: An Empirical Comparison.
McGuirk, James G.; And Others
Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, v13 n1 p69-76 Jan 1987
Examined how systemic and nonsystemic clinicians differ in diagnostic processes. Experienced therapists, with family systems or psychodynamic orientations viewed a stimulus film of a family session and individual interviews with parent and patients. Compared to nonsystems clinicians systemic clinicians identified as clinically relevant more different subsystems, more triads, and fewer monads, formulating more functional and fewer temporal hypotheses.
