Williams, Silvia Brooks
Education and Urban Society, v19 n3 p311-19 May 1987
Reports findings of a comparative study of Black high school dropouts and Black high school graduates in Houston, TX, in relation to five clusters of variables: demographic/personal characteristics; academic origin variables; family characteristics; feelings toward school; and feelings toward peers in school. The primary distinguishing characteristic is the dropouts' pervasive feelings of isolation, disconnectedness, and rejection. (KH)
