Individuation from the Family of Origin and Personal Adjustment in Late Adolescence.
Fleming, Wm. Michael; Anderson, Stephen A.
Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, v12 n3 p311-15 Jul 1986
Explored the relationships between late adolescents' self-reported personal adjustment and individuation from their families of origin. Adolescents' perceived involvement in their family's patterns of fusion related significantly to self-esteem, mastery, college maladjustment, and the number of reported health problems. Involvement in the family triangulation process also related significantly to adolescents' perceptions of self-esteem and mastery. (Author/KS)
