Features of Integrated Educational Ecologies that Predict Social Behavior among Severely Mentally Retarded and Nonretarded Students.
Brinker, Richard P.; Thorpe, Margaret E.
American Journal of Mental Deficiency, v91 n2 p150-59 Sep 1986
Educational contexts influencing degree of integration for 245 severely retarded elementary and secondary students were examined via eight classroom observation sessions across the school year. The best predictor of integration was the interactive environment provided by the nonretarded students, suggesting that nonretarded students are the key to successful integration. (Author/CB)
