Assessing the Quality of Family Observations: A Comparative Analysis.
Conger, Rand D.; And Others
Journal of Marriage and the Family, v48 n2 p361-73 May 1986
Examined the comparability of three techniques that are used to assess the dependability of family observational measures: analyses of observer agreement, reliability, and generalizability. Results indicated no single evaluative technique will always be most conservative in estimating the quality of observations. Suggests that multiple assessments always be used, especially during development of a coding system. (Author/BL)
