Encoding of New versus Old Information by Autistic Children.
McCaleb, Peggy; Prizant, Barry M.
Journal of Speech and Hearing Disorders, v50 n3 p230-40 Aug 1985
The study focused on describing four autistic children's verbal performance regarding pragmatic ability of encoding new versus old information. Results revealed that the Ss did encode new information through lexicalization in single-word utterances and through contrastive stress in multiword utterances. However, they encoded old information almost as frequently as they encoded new information. (Author/CL)
