Personal Behavior and Professional Ethics: Implications for Special Educators.
Stephens, Thomas M.
Journal of Learning Disabilities, v18 n4 p187-92 Apr 1985
The need for enforceable professional standards for special educators is discussed within the context of recent criminal convictions of four prominent special educators. Their misconduct is related to possible contributing factors inherent in our present system: lack of clear professional standards, emphasis on centralized controls, and society's tendency to use publicity in lieu of research evidence.
