Converging Perspectives in the Study of the Reading Process: Reactions to the Papers Presented by Morrison, Siegel and Ryan, and Stanovich.
Vellutino, Frank R.; Scanlon, Donna M.
Remedial and Special Education (RASE), v5 n3 p39-44 May-Jun 1984
Papers by Morrison, Siegel and Ryan, and Stanovich are critically reviewed with comments on both theoretical and empirical issues associated with alternative explanations of word decoding deficiencies in poor readers. Similarities and differences in theoretical perspectives are noted, but convergence in definition of problem areas and research methodology are highlighted. (Author/CL)
