Approaches to Multicultural Education in the United States: Some Concepts and Assumptions.
Gibson, Margaret Alison
Anthropology and Education Quarterly, v15 n1 p94-119 Spr 1984
Discusses five approaches to multicultural education. For each of first four (education of culturally different; education about cultural differences; education for cultural pluralism; bicultural education) delineates assumptions about underlying values, change strategies, intended outcomes, and target populations. Fifth approach is multicultural education as normal human experience rather than as a formal educational program. (CMG)
