Family Communication Styles and Language Development.
Kekelis, Linda S.; Andersen, Elaine S.
Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, v78 n2 p54-65 Feb 1984
Six children (aged one to three years) with varying degrees of vision were video-recorded in naturalistic interactions with their families. Results indicated that caregivers of the blind provide highly directive input, offer relatively few descriptions, and initiate a greater proportion of topics than their children, focusing almost exclusively on child-centered topics.
