Evaluative Reactions to Accented English: Ethnicity, Sex Role, and Context.
Callan, Victor J.; And Others
Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, v14 n4 p407-26 Dec 1983
This study indicated that Anglo-Australian and Greek-Australian adolescents evaluate speakers of standard (Australian) and Greek-accented speech differently. Evaluations varied according to context and to sex of listener: Anglo-Australian females favored Australian over Greek accents only slightly, while males showed much greater differences in their ratings.
