What-If's Make Things Happen.
Roukes, Nicholas
School Arts, v83 n7 p18-20 Mar 1984
Synectic thinking is creative thinking that prods the imagination to transform familiar things into new structures and images by deliberately forcing opposites or disparities to work together. Art teachers can stimulate creativity through synectics, by using the "what if" method with students--e.g., what if cows lived in apartment buildings? (RM)
