Sex-Related Differences in High School Science and Mathematics Enrollments: Do They Give Males a Critical Headstart Toward Science- and Math-Related Careers?
Ridley, Dennis R.; Novak, Joseph D.
Alberta Journal of Educational Research, v29 n4 p308-18 Dec 1983
Literature used to support hypothesis that enrollment in high school mathematics plays critical role in determining careers in science provided no convincing evidence. Reexamination examination of data on gender differences in rate of decline in mathematics enrollments suggested differences were too small to account for large gender differences in postsecondary careers.
