In the early days of vocational agriculture, the supervised occupational experience program (SOEP) included only supervised farming activities and provided experience in the preparation for the occupation of farming. With the vocational legislation of the 1960s, vocational agriculture through the SOEP provided experience in preparing for the placement of students in both farm and nonfarm agricultural occupations.
