Investigates the relationship between parents' educational expectations and children's academic achievement. The antecedents of parents' expectations (feedback from school, parents' own aspirations, and parental knowledge) and the factors mediating between these expectations and achievement (achievement-supporting behaviors, differential reinforcement, and the child's own aspiration) are reviewed.
