Activities to Elicit Specific Language Functions: Varying the Factors of a Speech Event Does Influence the Appropriate Language.
Staab, Claire F.
Canadian Modern Language Review, v39 n4 p847-58 May 1983
A study investigated whether activities could be designed to elicit seven specific language functions in kindergartners: self-maintaining, directing, reporting, towards logical reasoning, predicting, projecting, and imagining. Language functions were not equally elicited by all activities, but changing activity was effective in varying language function. (MSE)
