The Restricted and Gender-Typed Occupational Aspirations of Young Women: Can They Be Modified?
Kenkel, William F.; Gage, Bruce A.
Family Relations, v32 n1 p129-38 Jan 1983
Studied the occupational aspirations of low income young women (N=466). Longitudinal data suggested the vast majority aspired to gender-appropriate occupations. Factors investigated included anticipation of working, achievement in motivation, encouragement from parents, work experience, and rewards sought. Counseling and educational implications are discussed. (Author/JAC)
