Compares male and female psychologists in academic settings on promotion and tenure; employment opportunities and status; productivity; job mobility; career patterns; employment settings; and variables related to rank attainment. Suggests that research provides little support for common assumptions about sex differences in career programs. Discusses areas for future research. (Author/MJL)
