Thirty-seven speech pathology majors participated in a simulated deafness experience as part of an aural rehabilitation course. They wore speech masking aids which created temporary reduction in auditory thresholds and recorded their feelings and others' reactions and attitudes. Participants reported increased awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the hearing impaired. (SW)
