Temporal Changes and Urban Differences in Residential Segregation: A Reconsideration.
Lieberson, Stanley; Carter, Donna K.
American Journal of Sociology, v88 n2 p296-310 Sep 1982
Discusses why the probability model of integration (P-type measure), which describes the relative isolation of groups, predicts perceptions of segregation more accurately than the more commonly used index of dissimilarity. The P-type measure is applied in a reexamination of intercity differences and temporal changes in segregation between 1960 and 1970. (AM)
