The extent to which various factors during clinical clerkships affect specialty choice of medical students was investigated. During clerkships the greatest influence on specialty choice came from the interplay of faculty members and experiences. The influence of faculty members and clerkship experiences was greatest among students who chose psychiatry. (Author/MLW)
