Internality, Controllability, and the Effectiveness of Attributional Interpretations in Counseling.
Forsyth, Nancy L.; Forsyth, Donelson R.
Journal of Counseling Psychology, v29 n2 p140-50 Mar 1982
Tested the theoretical basis for using attributional interpretations by giving individuals who had received a negative social evaluation no information or information that stressed internal/controllable, internal/uncontrollable, external/controllable, and external/uncontrollable causes. Results indicated stressing internal/controllable causes produced more positive affective reactions among internal locus of control respondents. (Author)
