Special attention is recommended for counseling college faculty being terminated through reduction in force procedures. Such efforts as providing a supportive environment, helping defuse resentment, helping in individual planning and goal-setting, offering financial counseling, informing of other forms of counseling available, and personalizing the dismissal are suggested.
