The Importance of Familiarity in Hearing-Impaired Readers' Comprehension of Text.

The study examined the influence of familiarity on older and younger second-grade-level hearing impaired students' (N=15) text recall. Students did not differ on the basis of age in either prior knowledge or text understanding. Familiarity did, however, differentiate these students. (Author)
