Examined the moderating effects of employee ability on the role perceptions-intrinsic satisfaction relationship. Subjects (N=89) were middle-lower managerial personnel. Results emphasize the importance of matching an individual's ability with the total work environment. Implications for the work adjustment theory, stress management and future research are discussed.
