Where Have All the Flowers Gone? A Sociological Analysis of the Origins and Content of Youth Values of the Seventies.
Leger, Robert G.
Adolescence, v15 n58 p283-300 Sum 1980
Suggests that youth values of the 1970s, which centered upon hedonism, escapism, and a present orientation, influence a segment of youth today. Affluence, complex competitive pressures, and easy availability of success have made possible and encouraged self-oriented activity. Argues that countercultural activities produced these values and have, in turn, replaced faith in society's viability with anomie and cynicism. (DB)
