In order to determine what effect, if any, growth hormone (GH) has on human brain development, 29 patients (mean age 11.7 years) with GH deficiency were selected according to the following criteria: no evidence of reversible GH deficiency, onset of growth retardation in eary childhood, and no evidence of pituitary tumors or other direct pituitary trauma.
