Black men and women get lower status jobs than their white counterparts. Analysis of data from the 1967 National Longitudinal Survey of Work Experience of Women 30-44 Years of Age and the 1962 Occupational Changes in a Generation Survey demonstrates that lower social origins and educational attainments are insufficient explanations of blacks' occupational disadvantage.
