Developing a Forced-Choice Measure of Conflict-Handling Behavior: The "Mode" Instrument
Kilmann, Ralph H.; Thomas, Kenneth W.
Educational and Psychological Measurement, 37, 2, 309-25, Sum 77
The rationale and development of a new measure of five methods of handling interpersonal conflict (competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding, and accomodating), which attempts to control for the social desirability response bias is described. The instrument--the Management of Differences Exercise, or the MODE instrument--is briefly compared to similar instruments. (Author/JKS)
